oldclucks cabinet incubator build.

Thanks for the replies.

Cmom does your incubator have another fan at the bottom or just the top one? I am wondering if I should put another one at the bottom somewhere as well to help circulate.
I also gotta figure out what I am going to do for humidity. I usually pretty much dry hatch till lockdown and have good results in my old small incubators. I will probably just get a tupperware tub and sponge.
I don't have a shelf up near the top of the wine cooler. All the shelves (3) are in the middle of it. The whole inside is one solid plastic piece and the outside is metal.

Hmm, Interesting. I may be wrong but I thought the sportsmans did have a baffle or false back that the fans were attached to. It wouldn't extend all the way to the bottom.(neither does mine)

Just on the top. I have two thermometers one digital and one wet bulb.

I did a small test batch and got a 50% hatch. I just started saving eggs last friday for a large hatch. I plan to set about 40 eggs a week for march and april. After I get a better idea of my hatch rate with this incubator I will post mre details.

Oldcluck i built one like yours but i modified it. I took the incukit apart and drilled 1 1/8 holes in the board the heating element is glued to. I cut just one hole in the false back and mounted the fan behind the panel . I then hotmelt glued the heat element back to the board and installed it on the front part of the false back infront of the fan. I have pictures in my albums below. I set 28 ringneck pheasant in it 6 were duds 22 went to the hatcher and 15 hatched one pipped but didn't make it. I currently have about 75 ga. giant out of 89 going to the hatcher friday. Thanks for the info on building it.

R-G Thanks for the input, that is an interesting idea on the incukit. Actually I had thought about separating the heat element from the fan but hesitated due to the shortness of the power leads. Just goes to show there are many good ways to build with this incukit cabinet heater. I calculate my incubater could easily hold 160+ chicken eggs. Can you imagine how many quail eggs that would be?

I am building one this size and was wondering about vent holes. So with holes that big and wide open that kit keeps your temp steady and your humidity stays right. Interesting, thanks

Yes it maintains temp well. I do have to adjust the temps about a degree when it is full vs mostly empty. It is very easy to tweak the set point on the thermostat. i top off the humidity trays with water about every 2 days. When I need to bump up humidity for hatching I put a humidity pad in one of the trays and humidity gets up to about 65%. I am still waiting another week for the first big hatch. I am currently setting about 35 eggs a week and will be hatching every Saturday for a few weeks.
