If she seems to be in pain, then it's kinder to let her go. I agree with @Engine823 if you are not able to do it yourself then check with other vets to see if they can assist you. I'm still blown away at the $$ amount the vet quoted.
Do you have a father, husband, neighbor or friend that could do it for you. It's hard to do, but sometimes we have to take hold of our emotions and take care of business ourselves. No method is easy, but the broomstick method or cervical dislocation, at least for me, is the quickest way.
