My approximately eight year old hen took ill or got injured about four days ago.
When she tries to walk, it seems that one leg won't work - I can't tell if it's paralyzed or hurt. Her toes/talons are curled up tight on that leg. She is also puffed up, but it's cold here so I'm not sure if it's pain or cold or both.
She is able to get around a little and I find her in different places throughout the day, but she's definitely struggling to move easily. I have been making her scrambled eggs mixed with pellets and some vitamins, which she eats happily - but I don't know that she is eating independently and suspect she is having trouble getting to the food or water. She seems, other than this, to be happy. She will eat grass and search for bugs if I put her on the lawn.
We got her from the Agway, so she should have been vaccinated as a chick. I'm not sure what is wrong, but any help or suggestions for helping her are appreciated.
