ole dog trying new trick

Mr. Lewis (the teacher) called today and said he had to add some water to the bator. That the bator has held a steady temp 99.5 to 100.5 degrees for the last 9 days. And that the humidity up to yesterday has been 30%, it droped to 26 % today. He is not going to be there tomorrow, so he added 2 ounces of water. Hatch date is Jan. 6.

Awesome it is working well.

Went to check on the bators today, all 3 still holding temps, but the humidity on the ones with the fans lowers faster. No water added to the still air, 1 ounce to the fan up, 3 ounces to the fan down. Will need to go in on Sunday to remove the turners, day 18. All 3 bators have held temps within a good hatching range, no spikes yet. The still air has had the largest movement, 4 degrees from the highest to lowest. The one with the fan down seems to have downward spikes of 2.5 degrees, more than any of the others. Only once did it have an increase in temperture, .5 degrees. The one with the fan up has a temp change of 2 degrees. The class room has help a temp of 64-66 degrees and a humidity of 47%.
I need a lab setup like that one in my incubation room. I think this may have more to do with the constant outside temps and humidity than the bators themselfs.
Anyone out there with an extra $275,000 I can borrow for the setup.

Turners are out and the eggs have been candled. 4 eggs were infertile, all were in 1 bator, fan down. 7 eggs quit, 3 in the still air, 3 in the fan up and 1 in the fan down. The humidity in both the still air and fan up were at 58% and the fan down was at 60%. So we have 61 out of 72 eggs still going. I would say that maybe half of those are rocking. 3 more days should do it. I can't believe how steady the temp is held in that room, + or - 1 degree. I may want to use that room all the time. All of the bators stayed within + or - 4 degrees. Not even the commerical bator I used did that. If all the eggs hatch and live, not counting the infertile eggs, that will be about a 90% hatch rate. Even if you count the infertile eggs, that is about a 84% hatch rate. Not to bad for a LG.

Well..............we ALL Know............

CONFIDENCE!!!! it is called, not only in my equipment, but myself. Mostly in the BIG MAN upstairs. Once the eggs start rockin and they are, it is in his hands only.

I ADMIRE yore FAITH.............

But, If'n the hatch is poorly....aire ya gonna blame HIM?

Hmm.....I don't reckon I can agree with it all bein' in his hands.

P.S.There's ALWAYS a "Gremlin" or a "Leprechaun" messin' around with things! Screwin' 'em up! (Experience teaches.)

If it does mess up, I have no one to blame but myself. You are to far away to blame and we all know never put the blame on him. But after 50+ years of hatching eggs, I kinda know the outcome before it comes.
I remember the time I forgot to secure the door on my grand fathers' big bator. 25000 eggs lost. Took me the best part of 2 weeks before I could sit down.

Yep........

Childhood mistakes like that...........

........is what gives us "old folks" them there " hemmyroids".

I sit "kinda careful" meeself these days.........(and back then!)
