Random thought that came up. In all my searching, I'm not really seeing any Olive Eggers (OE) that are like the ones I hatched out.
Back story...
I have 2 separate flocks...
1flock is all Black Copper Marans (BCM) with their Roo. 2nd flock is a mix of 8 hens including one lone Easter Egger (EE), and 3 Barred Rocks (BR) with a BCM Roo for crosses.
In June I had one of my BCM's go broody, so I stuffed BCM and Easter Egger (EE) eggs under her. Ended up hatching out 6 (3-BCM & 3 OE)
All 3 OE's looked almost identical growing out and took on most of the Sire's look other than their combs.
Finally my question.. will all my future pairings from these 2 produce similar progeny or is it a grab bag question? I'm very new to genetics but I'm gathering that my BCM Roo is throwing the dominant coloring being all 3 look almost identical.
My plan in the spring is to switch Roos for test mating with both flocks and do need to bring in more EE's.
Pics of Kong, Esther and the babies.... For reference there is a black leg band, red leg band and no leg band.
Any thoughts, comments, tips greatly appreciated.
