I have some very nice hatching eggs available here in South-central Missouri. My Marans are gentle and even affectionate if 'treat-ed' right. Colors available in Black Copper or Mix. Mix consists of Black, Blue, and Splash colors at random. I also have some Olive Egger hatching eggs. These also come in Black or Mix.
My very first Marans chicks I bought came as-hatched, but only had one rooster in a bunch of eight. I have since hatched 13+ chicks from them, and my Easter Eggers, with only 4 more roosters. Hopefully my girls will continue this trend.
Local offers only, please.

"Both kinds seem to have a low rate of roosters to hens, about 1:8"
This is funny.

Yes, my very first batch had one rooster in the eight chicks I ordered. After that I hatched 10 with three roosters. As I said, not guaranteed, but a guideline.
There is no way to predict what the eggs will hatch.
You should not call it a guideline, just state your hatch numbers.

Are you willing to ship some once hatched? I live near Houston, Tx and for the life of me I can't find any Black copper Marans near me. I've tried and tried. I would try hatching but I've only tried it once and out of the 8 eggs 4 started to hatch and only one made it I don't want to waste life again.

Thank you for your interest. Sorry about your misfortune with hatching eggs. I know it can make you feel just sick to lose them.

There is a small window in which the post office allows the shipment of day-old poultry. The deadline is July 28, but I think I can squeeze it in.

I plugged in a random Huston zipcode into USPS, along with my own and found that Priority Mail Express 1-Day (which is the fastest method that the USPS offers) is available for $29.85 for eight chicks to that location.

I can fit up to 20 chicks in a box, but it will take longer for my hens to lay that many.
I was advertising hatching eggs, so you will have to pay the shipping fee. Also, the payment method would have to be via check, because I am not set up to receive credit.

This is due before the birds are shipped.

If you are still interested, please contact me at [email protected] for questions. I would love to hear from you.

How dark are your Marans' eggs on the Marans egg color chart?
I have one Blue hen that I am particularly proud of. She is two years old, and she laid a 5 today. My pullets lay a 6. I got a few 'glitches' of 7, but there were only three of those. I blew them out, so here's a photo of two next to some others.
