and put the vent plugs back in for lockdown this will help hold the humidity.

Ok. Not just one vent plug?

I keep my vent plugs open the entire time....they need the oxygen.

agreed.

Ok thanks for all your help guys!

But just to make this to my understanding:

No humitifier and no acsess to get them.
Vent plugs will continue to be open.
Filling all the bottom up w/ water.
Adding a wet rag or sponge.

Sound good?

Yes but you need to make sure your temp is steady too.

Well yes oxygen is important but I use the vent plugs to regulate the humidity. most incubators have holes for oxygen in the bottom tray.
If your having issues with getting the humidity up put the plugs in or partially in.
But then thats my opinion.

Coming back to my thread, mr. hijacker....
The 2nd chick with splayed legs got one leg free, but was walking and standing normal. So I freed the other leg.
The 3rd chick was upright, so it eventually figured out how to flip back over.
Dipped all their beaks, flipper chick enjoyed the water the most.
Off to work now.

Flipper was standing and looking around when I checked on them a few minutes ago, so I took her bandaid off. All are doing great!

Should I set up the big brooder now and use the 250watt red light?
I'm using a 10g tank and a 75watt white bulb, but it seems it's a bit cold in there still. The red light already melted part of the frame on 10g, thus the switch.

Put a thermometer in to see what the temp is. In a 10 gallon tank they aren't going to have very big area to escape the heat if they get too hot.
