Those thermometers are stapled to a piece of clear plastic that extends an inch or so left and right of the white of the thermometer. That's why you can't see it.

Keep hanging in there! It will come out just fine. Keep taking pictures!

I have some d'uccles and they crack me up. The hens have no names - just collectively known as the "Dumb Hens" I love them

I am new at the chicken thing!! I have always loved chickens and wanted to raise them, I am now the proud owner of 72 hens and 4 roosters. I have two hens that have no feathers on their necks and they have feathers on their feet, one of them, Butter, has hardly any feathers at all on her back is that normal and if I post a picture do you think you may be able to tell me what type she is?
