OMG!!! First Game Cam pic ever. Huge Funny thread

It cracks me up to read this!
I don't really have an opinion about what it is but I do want to say that it isn't far-fetched to think it might be a cougar. They are much more common than people think and closer to populous areas than you might think. Also like others have mentioned it could very well be a cross of domestic cat and any wild cat and they usually get bigger than the parents, and they wouldn't have an easily recognizable body shape.
Hope the OP gets more photos!

Excellent question! Maybe the OP would be so kind as to measure it. I'm guessing the tree is 12" in diameter and the cat was 2 - 3 feet behind it. If true, it is further evidence that it is just a regular cat!

Everyone must chime in... My two cents, mountain lion. From the nighttime photo, it looks like the cats left rear foot is on the rock that is evident in the daytime photo. How wide is the rock? If the cat's rear foot is actually on the rock (its either on the rock or being held aloft) the rock would be the closest identifiable marker the same distance from the camera as the cat and the measurements of the rock could easily be used to calculate the height and length of the cat. You can't judge anything from the length of the cat's tail, because you can't see the entire length. It is blocked by the grass or tree or something.

They absolutely are dangerous!!
A friend and I had one chase us into his truck one night. I fired a couple rounds from my pocket .25 and it didn't phase the dang thing! It just kept coming. When we first spotted it in his headlights it was about 150 yards away so we stopped to watch it, and figure out exactly WHAT it was. After a minute or 2 it kinda started easing closer and we kinda joked about what it might do if I was to fire a couple shots. "Ha-Ha watch how high it jumps before bolting into the woods"
THEN it started trotting our direction, then a slow run then .........."OH S**T!!!!"

Already having the pea shooter in my hand I bravely fire 2 quick rounds while running backwards. Kitty is now determined. Fortunately we were only a few steps from the truck, which seemed like a whole lot farther at the time, and were inside when the cat was about 15 yard away. It jumped on the hood kinda confused.
But, we got the last laugh. The horn did what my pocket pea shooter didn't and scared the living .......outa him. He ran on the hood for what seemed like forever, in one spot, til he kinda slid off the front. He disappeared in an instant.
We saw them a few more times after that night. We stayed in the truck.

The scratches in the hood of his truck became quite a conversation piece for him. He now tells the story a WHOLE lot better than I do. I think its even been a cougar a couple times.

If the big kitty's foot is on that rock, which looks like that one that is in line with the chair leg then he is further away from the camera than the little kitty in the second picture.
