That weight for a domestic cat is a bit of a stretch. That would put him 11 pounds over the record.

Heaviest cat
Himmy who lived in Cairns, Queensland, is the heaviest recorded cat, weighing in at a staggering 21.3kg (46.8lbs). Himmy, a desexed tabby died at the age of 10 of respiratory failure.

he almost gave the vet a heart atack! the people we rescued him from had left him in a makeshift pen about the size of a very small chicken coop... i thick that is what its previos us was, for 2 years he was in it and did nothing but eat, had no room to exercise. itwas ver sad cause he was a very sweet cat. the vet gave me a special food to help him loose weight, after a year with us he made it to abou 25 or so, (over 30 ) when he gotsoaking wet tho!

I must say it has been educational for me,during my high school freshman year I took a photography class, many years ago, when we used the old windup plastic container to hand wind the film into the tank,in total darkness, pour the developer into the tank and proceed on to the prints,,print box, developer,,stop bath, and fixer, after high school I forgot photography as time went on,I had no idea of the progress technology has made in potography, thanks for a great and educational thread, and we can all agree on one point,,It is a CAT,,of some type

I just measured my "on the small side" Main Coon and she's 19" from tip of nose to base of tail. Mostly fur and not a large cat, weighs 10 lbs.

Lizzie Borden is a Heinz 57 Tabby, measures about 16", and only weighs about 8 lbs.

My vote is that the cat in the photo is a very large housecat. However, given the short tail, and tufts on the ears, could be related to a small bobcat.

Love this thread.

I don't think that cat in the pic has a short tail, just curled the other way - my cat never has his tail sticking out - its always curved one way or another, I think that photo just caught the tail at the right point so it looks short. I don't see ear tufts either, I see the ears from the side and all domestic cats from the side have really skinny ears at the top - going up to a skinny point, not tufts.
