OMG!!! First Game Cam pic ever. Huge Funny thread

Sorry guys, no more pics out of the game cam (just like first 3 nights-nothing!). Not even our usual raccoons. Our weather has been cold and wet with heavy cloud cover for days. Should be turning to snow later today or tonight. Still heavy cloud cover, but cats of all sizes are more likely to move in snow than rain I think. Forcast is snow for the rest of the week.

If we see tracks of any kind, I will let you know, and we'll keep the game cam on. (Heck, I feel obligated to!)

I honestly don't see any arguing. It looks like debate to me. If people can opine without things getting nasty, go for it. It's actually been rather fun to read the opposing points of view.

I agree. we are giving our opinions not arguing who is right and who is wrong. This thread has me glued too. However, no one has yet to comment on MY question (maybe no one knows for sure). I had asked how the OP's dog behaved. Reason is---I have heard that dogs bark, yip, growl at a lot of animals (and wild) BUT if it is a wild cat they tend to whimper (out of fear?) I don't know. Just something that came up months ago about missing livestock and I was told that their dogs would not take chase whatever was stealing their baby goats. They had believed it was a cougar taking the goats. They (dogs) acted more afraid. Opinions anyone?

Dogs were growling into the dark. That's why I thought coyote, that's why we got the game cam. They do not usually do that. Usually if they hear something or smell something they run after it.

I have to say that I like this thread also. It isn't very common to have such a long thread were everyone is still getting along.

Henry'schickens~ When we go camping there are coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, and deer everywhere. Only one of my dogs (lab) does a wimper and that is when there are deer near. They know what deer taste like and love it. When she smells that deer sent she goes nuts and wines because she knows what can come next, a yummy meal.

On the other hand we went camping just last month and my heller/lab/pit started doing a deep low pitch growl. There was something very big walking/running around our camp area. It kept driving my dog nuts, my lab got over it but my heeler/pit/lab kept going and going on. My hubby came back to camp and said that he saw a mountain lion with two cubs the next canyon over. The three of them had walked up onto our camp and then worked there way around us. My dogs never did a wimper as in fear. It made them get more brave and sound more fierce. My mutt didn't stop running rounds around the camp. My mutt has never made that noise but after mountain lions and bobcats.

For coyotes they just will bark and want to chase them, just like if they saw a strange dog running around town.

So I guess my dogs do the opposite from what you say.

Maybe they are like this because they were raised out camping, hunting, and being exposed to all sorts of wild life not just backyard life. That might have something to do with it.

I know it says he's eating, but it looks more like that prey isn't sitting so well on his stomach. Poor kitty.
