OMG How very, very tempting but can't but questions on this breed.

Meh I'm still pouting because all the wittle duckies at the feed store ran like Elmer was on their tail when I got near the bin... one more reason we settled on chickens actually... THEY were curious and happy to come say hi... so

Kansas I agree... I was blinded by the woods and pheasants and didn't even see the other duck right there under my nose!

but the more time you spend in and around your pens the friendlier they all become. Many years back I took a manderin egg hatched it and raised it by itself for a pet for my son and until I introduced him to other ducks he would let you pet him, lay in your lap and follow me or him anywhere.(Heck if you only get a bird potty-trained) He only knew people. Maybe you saw the video of the people that raised the woodducks(wilder than manderins) on the internet. He was tamer than that. And those were really hands on.

the internet and this forum has already got me aching for more of these beautiful ducks, but my father will only stay tolerant of them for so long and he has already said no more, so no more until I can get my own property. (even no all that was before the teal and pintails)

Plus i have been pumping a lot of water out of our cistern for duck water and any if i build any more ponds it will probably run dry. So hopefully i can find a place around here with a creek or a well. which reminds me how deep of water are your hooded's on?

Out of all my duck pics on here the only ones I no longer own are the hoodies and buffleheads. Because all I have are tons of different size kiddie pools and felt these birds needed a bigger body of water to be comfy.(even though I kept them for a long time.) I am probably going to have them again as soon as I enlarge one of my pens and put in about a10x20 concrete pond. My 2 friends here swap birds with each other alot so getting them again is no problem. He has them in a slanted pond with only about 2ft deep. last post here (i dont like getting off topic on other peoples threads if I can help but go to mine "duck pics" for more info)
