OMG I am so excited !!!!!!

Here it’s too late in the year to be hatching. I let one of my OEGB hens hatch in October one year and ended up having to put up a heat lamp for them.
At what temperature should I be watching for to determine if I need to put a heat lamp in there or not? And is that the reason why there seems to be a "hatching season?" Because others are holding off on allowing their hens to keep their eggs?

Well you never know how good a job mama duck will do in cold weather to keep her ducklings warm for one then if she decides she doesn’t want to be a mama it’s up to us to finish her job. If she’s doing a good job with them and temps aren’t real cold they should be fine with out heat. My tiny OEGB needed extra help with hers.

No new egg today AND Daffy has covered most of the eggs and is sticking close by to the nest, not venturing out of the run this morning. If there's no new egg by later today or tomorrow morning and I'm pretty sure that 21 is daffy's magic number for incubation.

Oh and that freaking squeak she does if you get too close to her or the nest is so freaking adorable :love

Spoke too soon!
Just laid 10 minutes ago in the back corner of the yard instead of the nest.

Also noticed while putting the egg in the nest, Daisy is turning the eggs and it looks like he is the one possibly rolling eggs out. Will drakes destroy or disturb nests on purpose? I was thinking he was being protective of the eggs but maybe I have it all wrong?

This is what the nest looked like this morning, all of the eggs except for three were covered and with a few down feathers.

Well she is sure on a roll. My muscovy drake will go inside stand and look at the eggs even touch them with his bill but I've never seen him roll any. Hard to say who is doing the rolling.
Well I know he's a talker to everyone else, maybe he has a lot to say to his babies :idunno
Maybe he's telling them about this evil, overgrown, giant of a duck :rant that keeps picking him up and loving on him and he's telling them to don't fall for it.

Maybe the ones I have seen him roll was him saying, "hey! look at me when I'm taking to you!"
