I am getting Daffy a fresh bag of oyster shell tomorrow what else can I do or is one soft shelled egg too soon to worry about? Should I order Calcium Gluconate? Is there an egg layer duck feed that I need to switch her to? Am I overreacting to this?

She's been laying a lot. I'm not surprised she's been depleting her calcium reserves. The Calcium Gluconate is probably not a bad idea.

You love her and don't want anything happening to her, so no, you aren't overreacting. But, you shouldn't dwell on the might-have-beens.

I did, I got it today and Daffy got her first dose 1ML dose tonight. Correct me if I'm wrong on the amount she should get.

BTW, No new egg today

Was planning on doing what we discussed before, let her sit committedly for a week, candle them to find out which ones develop, and remove all the ones that are duds. I'm not so sure any of them are fertilized after seeing the Soft-shelled one wasn't.

Questions:

1. Is sitting on them overnight and not during the day enough to have an effect on development? Should I candle them now?

2. Daffy will sit on them during the day if she's put up in the run when we have to leave the house, should I keep her locked up to encourage her to sit full time?

3. It's almost a month since she laid her 1st egg on 9/23. Are the first ones too old by now or could they still be viable?
