I'd say they were fresh from that TSC...less than a week for sure, maybe 2-4 days old.

I wonder if someone some idiot bought them and turned them loose in the park?

That's what I was thinking also. When I was a kid we would always find baby chicks and ducks at a drainage field by our house. People would buy the birds around easter because they are cute and after a few days realize they are actually a responsibility and ditch them there.

Possible! The TSC is only maybe a quarter mile away from where I found them.

That’s incredibly sad! So glad I found these babies.

They are very lucky you found them! People put them out not thinking about all the predators. I wish people would just try and rehome them or something. They buy these animals on a whim without doing any research. So many of my Facebook friends are posting pics of the baby chick they picked up and they have it in shoebox or pics of all their kids holding it and chasing it around the yard. It's sad. Those birds you found won the lottery!
