OMG I found stray chicks!!! Age? Breed? What now?

That's how we got started, neighbor found a cockerel on the side of the road and we took him in!!

On my way home from the dog park tonight, I saw two oddly round fuzzy dots along the side of the road... when I stopped, I saw they were two baby chicks!!!!

Finding day old chicks in the street is CRAZY!! The fact that you had a broody and she took them means 'meant to be'.
But still... how the heck did that happen?!?!

How sweet is that? Has it been raining in your area? Usually, it rains dogs and cats. So, it's unusual, but not out of the question for it to be raining chicks......

One of our first roosters was abandoned by our neighbors. They told us they had too many cockerels and put him outside of the coop and let him fend for himself
Thankfully he just lived over the next hill and he found his way to our house

I KNOW! My best guess, because it wasn’t toooo far from a tractor supply, is maybe someone got a bunch of chicks and drove off and they somehow fell out of the vehicle? It’s been really windy here lately. Or maybe the wind blew someone’s coop open and the chicks went a-wanderin’... but there’s no way they could’ve been out there that long because they don’t seem terribly ill or hurt. So strange!

The older I get the more I keep thinking things happen for a reason. What are the odds 1. They survived a hour out on their own, 2. That someone like this found them.

I would name them Providence and Hope.

I would guess 2 or 3 days old but it would help a lot if you had a picture of them from the side so I can see their wings, I learned a neat trick for telling age and gender by shape of the wings but it only works if they are under 5 days old. In the 3 yrs that I have been using this trick, it has never been wrong. I understand no method is 100% but so far I am 15 right and 0 wrong.
