Northern Michigan
I hate winter !!! I don't do well in the cold...actually I am allergic as the cold makes me hive out badly. It's a weird histamine reaction. Being in Northern Michigan winter is always cold. I realize we are on the down side of winter but it's dragging soooooo slowly and I am going thru withdrawals bad.

Is anybody else missing their chickens like I am...??

I mean I go out and feed and tend them before work ~but that is early and some don't want to come out of the coops that early or when it's too cold. It's not the same as spending my evenings with them in the spring, summer, fall ...it's relaxing. When I get home now it's dark and all have gone to roost. And with the cold I don't spend a lot of time outside with them on the weekends. I watch them from the window of my bedroom which isn't the same.

I have 18 chicks in a brooder now and another batch of eggs in the bator, but it's not helping my withdrawals...how sad is that...lol.

ICWS ...intense chicken withdrawal syndrome !!

I miss mine too. Every a.m. (7:30) I go out to give them their food and water and treats, say hello, check things to make sure they'll be good for the day - then say goodbye til I get home.

By then it's dark and one bird roosts earlier then they others, so I get a flashlight, count heads, say goodnight until the next day.

As of today - 43 days til spring!

We didn't do it this year, but will definitely buy a SAD (seasonal affective disorder) lamp next year. We just don't get enough sunshine in the wintertime here in Arkansas. I'm used to the cold, being from the NC mountains, but I've never quite adjusted to the dark, dreary days here. I too miss being away from my outside animals, only going out to tend to what has to be done.
Looking forward to some nice days ahead that they have forecast for us.

I miss my chickens.

I get to briefly see them in the AM when I'm feeding, then briefly when I get home after work before they all go to roost.

The days are getting longer!

It used to be completely dark before I got home in the evenings.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone !!!! My morning starts like many of you out to the coop around 7:30 by 8am in my car on the way to work, when I get home they're all roosting.

I'll be so glad to see spring!!!!!!!! It snowed here all day long!!!!!!!!!
