I really have to laugh, not necessarily at your current plight, but I have really been "negotiating" with DH to head your way for some chicks and I had explained why you ended up with so many.

Low and behold last night DH and I were reading some of the topics in our forums and came across this thread. Now he starts reading it and said "Is this the same person you were talking about?" I said "yes" and he said "well, that trip is starting to look more like a reality....hunny can you believe how many chicks she's going to have?" I just started laughing. Been working on him this whole time, and then this mishap from the haterchy again just floored him.

Let me know when you get the rest of them and then I'll talk to DH to see when he wants to make the journey. I think we just might have him convinced. Keep those fingers crossed.

lol all! We use Sun Ray Chick Hatchery located in IA.

Well, the new chicks made it safe and sound. It wasn't as many as I was expecting, but still TOO many! Here are the totals we need to sell/rehome: (also posted in buy/sell/trade)

Plymouth Barred Rocks (2)
Cuckoo Marans (2)
Rhode Island Reds (10-12)
Golden Comets (2)
Jumbo Cornish Cross (10)

As of this moment, I have 57 chicks brooding and 14 in the coop! I can only keep a flock of 30!

My DH says this is what HE wants the flock to look like: (lol Like HE has the final say!)

Blue/Green layers- 11
White Layers- 8
Brown Layers- 12
Roos- 3

Which would give us a flock of 33...30 hens and 3 roos which is right where we want to be, and an EXACT roo-to-hen ratio! If I sell/rehome whats listed above (and all remaining chicks survive) thats exactly what we'll have.

So....whos coming to get some!? lol I'd really like them to go to their new homes this week...my brooder looks so small! lol

Oh my gosh! I can only imagine that the only thing you can do is laugh about this!!
Are you going to go through with the chicks for goat exchange? If you do, I'd love to see a picture!!
