Thank you! 11 have hatched so far. Ugly Duckling, one of them popped out completely yellow!! Did I get an A & M in there too??
And is it like chicken chicks, where I shouldn't open the incubator at all to pull out the baby quail until they're dry and 'all' are hatched? One hatched at around 5:45pm, and I thought they can't last as long without food and water...
OOPS! An A&M must have gotten mixed in....sorry, but my grandson was here that week, and he was trying to help, but must have mixed them up. Every time he brought me eggs, I questioned him where he had gotten them from, so maybe my mistake.
A & M's are TX A & M, a white quail bred for meat. I just eliminated all my A & M's, and am going with Browns and Goldens. Yes, they're in the freezer, so that baby is a true orphan....LOL
SO far I have 20 chicks! I did end up pulling all of them out this morning, about 5:00 am because I woke up, and looked, and TWO had somehow unclipped the wire bottom of the Genesis 1588 and squeezed themselves under the wire floor, and into a plastic nook! Humidity and temps dropped, but I'll leave it another day, 'just in case'.
It was really cool to have the one A & M in there! And one looks even reddish. I ended up with one golden hatching. I'm kind of hoping it's a roo, so I can get more goldens!
,,,I'm also waiting to see how Saddina's hatch is going...
I'll take more pics when I get back this afternoon!!
