OMG!! My very FIRST baby quail!!!!

Here's a pic I took this morning. I had one more hatch after I took out all the others. You can see my lone golden and lone A&M.

I really love them too!! They're SO adorable, and I'm already thinking of different possible colors I can breed for (yikes, Shades of Monarc!!) and how I'll certainly need MORE A&Ms, and wouldn't a red be cute?

Wow, they look really good! I love the Goldens! They're so pretty, and the ones I have are really nice, big birds. I've got a batch of Golden eggs here now that I need to get in the bator. Congratulations!

Thanks, UglyDuckling, I love these guys! More golden is definitely in my future! Some of the little guys are, well, HUGE!

And I woke up to one more!

Wow, the difference in size in 12 hours is amazing~ I swear they're twice as big! I'll keep the incubator going for the rest of today, just in case.

NotTheMomma, it's a great hatch for me! I started with 41 eggs that made it through USPS, and NOW I have 21. I think...those little buggers ARE like popcorn, running around, and once in a while, popping up just like popcorn! And they're shaped like popcorn too, their plump little bodies the main kernel...so funny!

I havent hatched out any quail but when I bought my chicken chicks, they grew soo fast, I thought they were hybrids or something! lol. I like your description of them as popcorn.

Yep, that is a good hatch for shipped eggs. I know, they grow so fast, it's unreal. I've got some Browns here that are just 5 weeks old, and they're huge already. If you need some Golden eggs, let me know. Mine are laying, and I've got some young ones coming up before long. I think the breeders I bought were older than the guy told me, but they still give me about 5 eggs per day. So it's enough to get started with. Good luck with your new babies.

I would love to hatch more, but I have a 'bump' I need to get over...and that's getting myself mentally prepared to processing my first quail, in order to have room for new layers, because I have room for only 1 dozen. (yikes!!) I keep lurking in the Meat section and rereading people's threads on processing quail. But DEFINITELY goldens are my next color, once I get past that! I'll find out in about 6 weeks when some of the roos will have to go!!
