Omg!! Such Stupid People One Meets!!

Did you know everything there is to know about chickens before you got some?????
I am a born learner. I love to learn anything and everything. I spent hours learning about raising chickens before I got some....but I did NOT know everything, nor does anyone on this website. I lost a chicken this winter even after hours of trying to figure out what was wrong. No one knows everything, but God. If people on this site ask a "stupid" question, or act "stupid", it's because they don't know everything and they are learning. Give people a break from the judgement.

But isn't this whole thread about judging people? This is after all the title: Omg!! Such Stupid People One Meets!!

I erased my snotty comment.
The people here are of many different levels of experience. While you may see a post that you consider ridiculous, some of us benefit from those simple questions that are asked. That's how we learn. Frankly I'm quite lost when the people here go into acronym mode and start spouting off with BRE, BBF, BBQ, QVC, etc... But this is how we learn. Reading and asking stupid questions. But we are here, we do care for our chickens and desire to learn more. Just ignore us until we're smart enough not to annoy you.

I like the idea of helping new owners if the store is open to the idea and you have the time. Post the website on the list and tell them they can learn more here.

Just remember that unfortunately you can't save them all. We've gotten tons of dogs and cats dropped at the end of our driveway. Have to convince my wife that we can't keep all of them.

No offense, three cedars, but this person has a point...if people didn't ask "stupid" questions on a learning board, then they would continue caring for their chickens incorrectly. The only stupid question is one unasked.

When I got my chicks their was some little kid beggin their parents to get a duckling while most where just looking then I go over to them and say I want two of these those and two duckies I even got to pick them out of the containers myself.

I can't stand people who buy pets for their kids then Opps they get bored and rehome them.

FROM 1001 BEST THINGS EVER SAID ABOUT HORSES: Show me a man who has no pity on his horse and I will show you one who is a cruel husband if he is married and a tyrannical parent if he has children a man that would be Nero if he had the power. He is a coward by nature and a fiend by practice. ( I read this shortly after a neighbor failed to bury his goat after it died, I guess he was hoping the buzzards would help lighten his load.)

It has been my observation over the years.....

That we ALL learn.......some learn the correct way....some the wrong way....but we ALL learn....usually by experience.
And that experience is most often by "making mistakes".

THAT is why I'm so SMART !!!
(I've made a LOT of mistakes in a LOT of different areas.)

Sometimes, people just don't KNOW that they are insufficiently informed.

That is why I quit buying @ the Cenex Country Store... as long as they got a sale they didn't care. Hohl's , a family owned store, NO ONE touches them but adult buyers.

wow! what a thread. I have less trouble with ignorance, or stupidity. That implies to me, that folks are uneducated but are willing to learn. It is the person that refuses to be taught anything that really grinds my gizzard. No matter how you try to inform them of the duties and responisibilities of say, pet ownership, they already know better than you and refuse to hear anything you may try to tell them.
