Deep calming breath lickskillet... now go call law enforcement and file a report. Dont wait till it escalates because the fact is it already has. Ask for an officer to come out and have a calm chat with them. The mere fact that they are at your place is going to make the idiots.. I mean those people to think a bit differently. I am afraid it will get worse if you dont ask law enforcement to step in and calm it down now. If your the one who calls and if your the one who is calm and quietly determined to get this ended with the help of the law then you are the one who will come across as sensible and law abiding. Law enforcement is going to size up the other crew the minute they contact them about this and then you will be on record with the law as trying to get this stopped while they will come across unfavorably. Its their job to handle this let them do that for you and give you and your family peace of mind.

They are honking horns and riding bikes past your house? I wouldn't call that out of control or violent, just malicious and annoying. I would just document it all, we got a security system because of an issue like this... wasn't quite the same, the woman threw me against a wall, punched and choked me... then called the police on herself LOL stpid stupid woman... anyhow, I'd send them a certified letter stating their children may or may not be acting without their knowlege and are disturbing your peace and that of the others who live around you and if they don't stop their will be charges filed. I would ceratinly take them to court, you have warrant, then again I've had lots done to me and turned the other cheek- I'm a total wimp in pracitice

LOL I am SO sorry this is going on, regardless, to lose such beloved pets and then have harrassment, that's BULL! You could probably claim the chickens as more then just pets, since they provide you a staple... I would be crushed if my dog did this to someone, it's sick they arn't immediately offering you compensation... jerks...

Well I have been reading for the whole time. I had a bear attack last year and we are still dealing with the after math. I almost went for help myself the nightmares and fear were almost out of control. Just be careful and watch how everyone feels afterwards.
Someone said get motion sensor lights and I just got some at BJ's with a ten off coupon they were like 30 for solar powered ones.
I would CERTAINLY report it. Let the police talk to them and let them know their children have been acting crazy. They may not even know all what the kids are doing.

You could always post pictures of the dead chickens on your fence.. maybe the kids would get the whole picture. (JK)

I SO agree about documenting. I have a video camera that goes off every so many seconds for a bit. Does yours have that feature? You could borrow mine. Maybe point a web cam out the window and let it record to the computer?

I am so sorry this happened. I will pray for you all.
Have peace...

Oh My Gosh Thatis so horrible. When I was a kid, the neighbors dogs got in and decimated our pet chickens. It was so horrible. Two of the chickens were still alive when we got to them and they died in my arms, it is so awful, especially for a kid, I'm sorry your daughter had to witness that.

Report done on that one (by phone)! That is their second strike as far as we are concerned. Just one more anything and that's it! Nothing else has happened since the horn. We will see about motion lights in the morning! And I have a baby monitor that we will be putting in the coop as well. My husband will be working out at the gym tomorrow, I wonder if he'll see the neighbors husband in there? Usually he does. I told husband NOT to say anything to him. That we have the law on our side. I can't wait to hear what happens. My hubby comes home for lunch. So we'll see! My DD is on the other comp. reading and telling me what everyone is saying while I try and post! Gracie, you should post and tell them how YOU feel! LOL

So sorry for your loss! I am gald to hear you found 2 stragglers!! I agree you did the right thing also. But I would definately call the police on this. I don't think that the parents would retaliate, but the kids might esp. teenage boys! Good luck and I hope the restof your animals are safe!!

I just got done scanning this entire thread. I'm so sorry you're in this horrible situation, and sorry for the loss of your birds.

Even though I am a dog lover, I still think you had no choice but to shoot the animal in the moment simply in order to keep your family and your remaining birds safe. Not to mention, once it has killed, it will be back to kill again and there's nothing anyone can do about it after a dog gets blood lust.

I'm not sure where you are in KY, but if you change your mind and want chicks I am going to be putting some in the bator in a few days that your DD can have. They are fun mixes. The roo is an EE and the hens are a brahma, a buff orpington, and some salmon faverolles. I also have some extra golden comet pullet chicks hanging around and some columbian rock roo chicks.
