i understand their upset about their dog i would be and dogs also get lose(accident)we had 1 get in our pen 4 diff. times and lost 4 chickens (one the dog even chased across the fence into my dogs pen where she killed it)before i found out where it belonged and got it taken care of. but they had no right to act like your chickens were less than their dog that was so wrong on so many levels,and that dog could of easely went after somthing eles you need to make sure every one understands what happened and deff. get back somthing for your lose ,hope your dd will feel beter soon!
