Hi i am in Switzerland and I have adopted some ducks. They were all wild at first so I wasn't able to pick them up before.

Because they are the best things in my life I wanted to check that they hadn't caught any ticks.

I found a few of these on the underside of Jiffy and Jackies feet.they are small runner ducks. They came from a home that was just mud.

Stanley (the white Pommer Drake doesn't have any). I have had him for the longest time.

Here the ducks have a nice lawn as well as 9 fresh swimming pools and straw hideouts (50m2 stall at night)

That’s Bumblefoot.

That’s an article about how to treat it for chickens. It’s basically the same for ducks.

I would start with getting a 5 gallon bucket and cutting a hole in the lid for the duck to stick his head out. You put fill the bottom with lukewarm water and Epson salt and put the duck in there with the lid to soak their foot for half an hour first.
Then what I like to do is apply a blob of Epson salt poultice which is a green gel they sell at farm stores for horses, but it’s great for ducks and chickens Bumblefoot problems. You then put a gauze pad and wrap the foot securely, but not too tight using Vet wrap. It may be hard to get it on right the first couple of tries, but you will get the hang of it. You don’t want to squish their toes together. You don’t want to squish the webbing either. There are videos on YouTube that show how to wrap a duck’s foot, you can look for one of those. Keep your bird out of water and then repeat this every day until the bumble softens enough to start to come out
I was able to get one out of my chickens foot without using a scalpel. I just gently loosened and picked at the edges of it once it was soft and then the whole thing came wiggling out then I filled the hole with antibiotic ointment.(the kind that does not have pain relief stuff added.) and bandaged it again and did this every other day for a couple of weeks until it was all healed up.
