Once again I have a sick duck. She lost her sister 6 weeks ago which broke my heart. That Duck one day stopped eating and was low energy. She stopped eating. Slept a lot. I held her most of her last day and the next morning I found her where she had fallen asleep. Now her sister Pato has something wrong. She was depressed for a week after and I learned all kinds of little tricks to coax her to eat and they worked. About a week and half ago she stopped eating and was drinking non stop. I added electrolytes and vitamins and in a day or two she was no longer dehydrated and drinking normally. But she won’t eat. Not peas, not mealworms, her duck food, lettuce…but she will eat pasta…whole wheat…has to be spaghetti not any other shapes. I have been putting her spaghetti in her food bowl with a soup of duck food and molasses. She’s eating that mostly…I’ve given her 2shots of liquamycin after which she perks up and then she tanks before the the 2nd shot. I am going to start tube feeding her today to see if that will jump start her digestive system. And enable her to put on some weight…she’s lost so much weight. Would it be ok to give her another round of the liquamycin? She’s only 3 so I’m stumped. She’s pooping brownish poop which I’m assuming is the pasta…although I’d think it would be lighter. Here are a couple poop
Pics and and a Pato pic. When I sit with her she naps a little and then plays with my hair and eats my fingers like nothings wrong. I’m wondering if her aversion to anything but pasta could be due to something internal? But if I squash up mealworms and float that in her water she won’t eat them either. She’s currently by the pellets stove where she gets some heat but not too much. I feel tube feeding is the best way to go at the moment…?
