One of my girls got sour crop and we’ve been treating her for it for two days. I just noticed that two more of my girls have squishy crops, though both feel mostly normal with the bottom having liquid. I have one of them a little crop massage and it seems like I broke up the normal feeling clump. Should I be concerned that there was a clump in liquid? The other thing is that all of my girls have been having really runny poops that are clearish sometimes or milky sometimes but always they look like they have normal poop in it just diluted. Most of their poops look like this. Why do you think THREE of my girls got sour crop at the same time? Is it maybe something else? Is it something they ate that caused it? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

When multiple chickens come down with yeasty crops at the same time, moldy food should be suspected. Either they have been scavenging moldy food from a compost pile or are being given spoiled fruit or veggies, or their feed has gone moldy. Some mold can cause neurological damage, followed by lameness and balance issues, while other mold infects the crop and grows there to cause sour crop.

Sour crop is treated by miconazole vaginal yeast cream. Here is my tutorial on crop disorders. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

Thanks. Yeah I suspected it was something in their food. I’ll look in to it. Now I have to tell my dad that we need new food. (Also I’m pretty sure it’s their food because the first one came down with it while they were in their run with no access to my compost pile or food scrapes) :barnie
