One Buff Orpington Chick is much lighter in color

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

It is normal for there to be variations of one color in the same breed. I have three orps and one is a lot darker than the others and yet they are all female.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I am so excited to have these little chicks. They are fun and it's been really great so far. Here's a pic. Thanks everyone!

So, what does this mean? I mean I know what it means

, but what does a mixed breed do. Are they good, bad, crazy, the same? She's a little squirrelly as it is and just different. We call her a spaz most of the time because she seems to always be flipping out about something. Bought all three of them together at the same time at a local Atwoods. They all looked alike at that time of course. :)

Mixed breeds can be just as good as standard breeds, but there is no way to predict for certain what kind of characteristics or personality they will have, or how good they will be a laying. Part of the fun of a mixed breed is watching to see how they turn out. She could even turn out to be a better layer than your Buff Orpingtons, especially if she has some White Leghorn in her background.

Hi, yep not a Buff, no worries it's all good, the only thing I would watch out for is aggression towards the Buffs as they tend to get picked on. I'm sure it will all work out for the best though.
