Sorry I don't come on line everyday so I post often when I jump on.

I have a little over a 1 week old barred rock, fat little thing, anyway she seems like a little weirdo. when I let them out of their pen to clean it, they run around my office, she every now and then jumped and bounces around like how a dog does when they are excited, it is very funny to see, it isn't aggressive behavior, she is rather a spaz too, screams bloody murder when I go to pick her up, once I have her all safe in my hand and talk to her she is all calm and just listens to me talk to her. but she has quite the personality, she will crawl on me and such, but is the one that prefers to do things her own way, she is like meh human.

Anyone else's chick have such a weird behavior? (praying the behavior is not rooster behavior)

In my experience, loud chicks always develop loud personalities. Mine have been female so far, but always bossy, the sort to clear a coop, lol. But not bad, just noisy, a little hyper vigilant (not a bad thing if you free range) and probably not the ones who will crowd into your lap.

I have a chick just like that too! Crazy little thing. Loves to jump straight up in the air to look through the door of the brooder. I call him my little jumping bean.

Most chicks jump around when their excited.Mine usually do it when they have been fed or let outside to free range.Every now and then I see my hens run around and fly when first let out,so it carries on to adult hood as well.
