Double yolker. Is the hen between 20-28 weeks. I've had 4 doubles in the last 2 weeks and apparently, those young ladies need some time to perfect the plumbing.
Our current hens are young and still not laying the largest eggs, but we do get some double yolkers and actually got a triple yolker recently. That was a new one for us.
Your egg is shockingly big. Maybe there are more than 2 yolks in there.
I have a hen that consistently lays excessively large eggs. Many are double yolkers. I’d say we probably get one at least every other day. Today’s egg has me concerned however, because it seems to have blood on it. What would be the reason for these large eggs and is it dangerous for her to lay such big ones so often? I am attaching pics to help with your assessment. Thanks in advance!
