One of my 'Wellies' Came out black and white!! Help! what IS it?

dark legs, unlike a Welsummer but exactly like an Australorp.

I remember a while back about a post about an ebay seller who's Wellies were crossed with something else and even her PURE Wellie eggs had some mixes... maybe that is what happened? MAYBE it was Cuckoo Marans they were crossed with?? I don't remember for sure.... hopefully you all will get it sorted out

he is from Louisiana.
says they are a 4 H project and not mixed...

my black baby has mostly black legs, but his toes are mixed black and pink...

gotta go look for a pic of that astrolorp.

this guy does also breed Marans, do they have black legs? maybe this is a maran egg?
I pulled out the empty shells from the three it might have emerged from, and I can say I can't tell any difference in color really.... and my Marans lay very speckled eggs... these arent'. Some little spots on some... not like a maran...

My situation has been resolved. It's likely a Wellie/Jersey cross

Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humor.

The breeder is going to send me another set of eggs for postage, so I'll get another try.

I know she has good stock, so I am happy with the outcome.

pnp, it's a good thing you posted. I just assumed Wellies were supposed to come out black!

They look just like the Wellie mixes I hatched out a couple weeks ago! Mine are BBS/Barred Rock Crossed with Welsummers! All my Wellies hatched out blue and white!
