One side seems swollen

I placed some grass and dirt into the brooder box with her and I often notice soil particles in her water, so I guess she does search for grit. She also loves chopped green stuff - won't even touch chick starter if I give her finely chopped weeds. She has watery poo afterwards, so I try to give her smaller amounts. When outside she does nibble on grass and clover, but I doubt she gets anything as it still needs to be chopped.

Feed a wet soupy food of the starter...Its easier for Ducklings to digest..a Also grit is needed if eating anything other than starter....:frow
It doesn't have problems digesting anything. Only the greenery which gets a dark brown watery stuff, but I guess that's normal. She often brings water into her food tray. And she often drops a package in the same tray... :)

20% starter grower with niacin. Too much protein in waterfowl will cause angel wing.
this has been disproven by many members, i know a couple that feed 26% turkey/game starter
angel wing seems to be more of agenetic issue

Angel wing is caused by needed deficiencies in diet or excessive intake. Lack of manganese along with vitamin a d and e or excessive caloric or protein intake. When I feed 26% I used to fix angel wing on a fairly regular bases now I feed 20% and haven't had angel wing in my own birds in several years. I do however still see angel wing in birds that come to me from time to time from people that are not giving them a proper diet.

Higher protein can lead to faster growth and higher vitamin and micro-nutrient need.
If food lacks those, it could be the cause - not the protein content directly, but indirectly.

That's makes sense considering one one the causes is considered to be deficiencies in certain nutrients.

There is a good write up about perosis and how it believed that the same thing that causes perosis can cause angel wing, and it wasn't too much protein. I'll see if I can find it.
