I'm new at this, hope some one can help me figure this out, sorry long post Ive been reading others past post on subject still not sure about what i should do.thinking the worst...thanks in advance.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)10-14 weeks seem OK weight
2) What is the behavior, exactly. My ameraucana spit up clear liquid no smell last night and tonight -also flock occasional drippy nose or wiping nose in bedding started few weeks ago. some sneezes on occasion but not tonight not consistent .all eating acting OK. recently took down wire to separate ages.maybe stressed: younger ones stay in coop all day scared to go in run unless I'm there to protect.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?the one spit up two nights in a row on the roost crop seems half full; the others only nose issues a few weeks not consistent- none tonight, clean beak eyes clear no smell or breathing problems
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?only drippy nose, no one else spit up.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.no
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. DLM dusty- dirty bedding ? put sand in run recent ?heavy rain -temp change? possible ate some thing inedible like wood chip or crop problems? dirty water? respiratory or worm problem?
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.eating normal medicated feed occasional cabbage leaves- scratch
8) How does the poop look? Normal or black green Runny sometimes smelly -maybe from cabbage leaf
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?vet Rx in water
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?myself, have duamycin -10 available and pro-biotic powder if needed .would like to take to vet but none in my area that works with birds.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.Is my coop not ventilated enough? windows on 2 sides small 4 inch by 12 vent at very top,and i keep door open during day if 80 degrees or hotter
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use DLM in coop- rough sand in covered run
