I have a Black Langshan male about 3 years old. Prolly for about 4-5 weeks now he has has a marble sized ball in his wattle near his beak. Poultry supply Co. told me to give him penicillin for 10 days and rub an antibiotic on it; I used Neosporin. Nothing happened. They thought it may be a mosquito bite. I did take him to A "chicken vet" vet near me that is suppose to specialize in chickens. She withdrew some fluid from it and it tested as an infection. She gave me Tylan Soluble Tylosin Tartrate. Nothing changed. I am on day 3 of giving Galliimycin and no change yet. Everything about the chicken is perfectly normal other than the lump. Any ideas?
PS: Bet said she could send a sample in, but would have to mortgage my house to do so.

Has it changed in size since you first noticed it, and how long now has it been there? Is it draining? Since you have used 3 different antibiotics and an ointment now, I would be giving your rooster some probiotics for awhile to get his gut bacteria back to normal. I wonder if it is just a small cyst, especially if it hasn’t grown. It could be a fibrosis or a similar growth from an old peck or injury, but I am not a vet. I would be tempted to watch it, unless it is causing pain or it is getting larger. If you need a stronger antibiotic, Baytril is available here dosage is in post 3:

I only have the two roosters in that pen (brothers) and the one with the infection is the dominate male and the other stays away. Probably has had it for 5-6 weeks and no change. It developed within a day or two. The vet withdrew some fluid and said it is infection, but further tests will cost hundreds of dollars. There was never any sign of trauma or and scabbing or even a bite mark. Maybe mosquito or spider bite at night. I will see what she thinks about the baytril. Thanx for your reply.
