One Wing or Two?

But it will not hold them with the lid slid back for light and ventilation. With it closed, it is pitch black inside and on a hot day it's an oven
Piece of fencing big enough to cover partially opened container?

You dont even have chicken wire?? That would work for chicks to.

Lol. Why yes, as a matter of fact, a friend gave us a nice (ahem) roll of chicken wire they happened to have lying about. Outside apparently, as it is pretty much a roll of rotting, crumbling rust. We will get what we need in the next day or so. We just needed to get by for a couple of days.

Thanks for the info about the bleeding feathers. We clipped one wing on most of the chicks and nobody bled. There is one black and white EE I've called Ptarmigan who ended up getting both wings clipped. She is well named, flies like an eagle, climbs all over me. Hope "she" is not a he, lol. I really like her.

Here are Ptarmigan and Friendly, the boldest and most colorful of the flock. Please tell me they are not roos, I already have 2 and don't need any more!

Pics of their heads would help...at 8wks males would be very red.

Will try later when we refill the feeder.
