Ongoing Brahma Projects Thread

I am on my second hatch from 2 buff-laced brahma hens x with a gold laced rooster. I would appreciate some input if those with experience are willing to share. I am learning as I go and doing this for my own hobby but want to do it well! First hatch 2 buff lace and 1 gold. I can post some pics if that is helpful - they are looking good to me - still young though.

Second hatch is only two days old now from same parents. 1 buff laced clearly has some dark feathering along wings.

Question - is this a concern relative to breeding the parents again? Just concern in the chick? Can someone explain...thanks so much.

It might be a dumb question. I thought dark feathering was a fault in a buff laced bird.

I think mes is asking if there is a problem in the breeding stock when there is some dark feathering on the wings when the parents are buff laced and gold laced or whether it is just an anomaly. Mes, can you post a picture?

This is soooo embarassing. I have had a really long week and am overtired but its still really embarassing. I considered just avoiding this thread...

So I only hatched two eggs - one BIG light brahma egg and one normal size buff laced egg in this hatch. The dark feathered chick is small and the other chick is BIG. So I have been assuming that small chick came out of small egg and was a buff laced. Nope - small chick is my light brahma and the buff laced is the BIG chick and both are normal colors.

Sigh.
