Does it need be that long? I would take long away and add to a side. Even though you would be makin half a star block i think it would work.

Or only add border with what leftovers you have on one side and make it a design element of bein off center. Maybe six patches? Or nine? Whatever size would work better for your scrap sizes.

I may just play with it tomorrow and see what other arrangement would work that would also make it less long. Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'm done working for the day, off to bed to crash.

I just finished piecing the blocks for this quilt while watching a live webinar by Eleanor Burns, which is now up on my design wall. It was a lot of fun to piece. :) The pattern is a Quilt in a Day called Patches of Life.

I used reproduction fabrics.

I love repro/historic prints. I look for the historic prints specifically every time I shop. I think more the historic than the reproduction, though you'd think they would be the same thing under a different name, but the repro's seem brighter than most of the ones labeled "historic".
I love how that quilt you made, Terrie, has a slightly curved look to the design.

I am making a 16th block (the second from the left on the bottom is just 9 pieces laid down there, not sure of the arrangement of that block yet). That makes it so I can have 4x4 blocks, 72" square. What do you think about this arrangement?

I got my fabrics today! Some are so gorgeous! I love the quality of them, as usual.
There is a 30" piece of 108" quilt back in a deep-blue green that I can put with another piece I have to back something.

The first photos is a print at the top that I used their color picker to draw the four other fabrics out of to coordinate, to show those not familiar with it what it does.

The yellow, bottom left in this next photo may go okay in the others ones above as well. And the green and yellow in the same print just looked so retro, I loved those. I already bought that one in a rust tone already, though to me, it appears more reddish than rust. And I added to my brown and green stashes with the same print in each color at the bottom right.

This is the 30" quilt back fabric. It was really inexpensive, being a short cut.

Some gorgeous colors there! I am partial to the top ( I think it may be the backer from the bottom pic?) and bottom ones in pic 2.

I really like the 'impressionist watercolor painting' look of the fabrics in the top picture. They should be wonderful as coordinates together in their own projects but should work beautifully with many other prints also. Very versatile patterns!

There is a blue print that is with the watercolor type fabrics that is the right shade, but a little different from the impressionist vibe you get from the others. The blue green with a sort of flourish design is the almost yard of the 108" quilt backing, in the top pic top right corner and the bottom photo, too, by itself. I thought I could get another to add to it to make a back for something.

So, what sort of pattern would lend itself to the watercolor-ish fabrics? I got them with no particular quilt in mind to do with them. I just loved them. And I am not generally a fan of blue, but these blues and the light green are incredible.
