See? I didn't start out at 8-10 stitches per inch!
It's the same design as the one I tried! Of course, the stitching is perfectly fine - who is ever going to look at it up close and point out any short stitches? It just aggravated the perfectionist in me (and I didn't like it if I couldn't get a "straight" corner.......
If I lived somewhere cold, I might have persisted and got good at it. Not to be.... sigh.
EDIT: and I didn't know what to do with the plain squares. Those little flowers are nice, but I never would have been able to do those curves properly. Do you use a template for that, or did you freehand it? It's pretty good, I reckon.

It's a good starter block for sure. Some choose a block that is too difficult, but that was a good choice. Later, I did a spring quilt with a two block combo called Tennessee Waltz. One was the Churn Dash block and one is a 54-40 or Fight! block. I love this combination, makes it appear that there are circles when all are straight lines. I'll have to do another one some day in different colors.I'm off to bed now. Been feeling a little under the weather, sinuses and coughing stuff (not flu, thankfully).

Someone on here said I could send it over there, but our postal service is absurdly expensive. It's good that it found a "good home" locally. Having it here was like failure staring me in the face. :D
I have totes full of such "failures". I am determined to salvage them one day, even if I have to unsew all of it!

Got a bit further with this first Carpenter's Wheel. I put another cream border, then I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby that matches the little orangey-gold leaves in the dark olive green print in the center. Don't ask where I'll go after this round, have no idea. The Buttercup quilt will end up queen size and go on my own bed. View attachment 1246520
Love Carpenter's Wheel. I made a queen size one and my "helpful" hubby washed it in hot water one day. It was a white background with red, gold and green wheels. It bled. :hit

ooh, I like that. It's sort of got an optical illusion thing going on as well, you can focus on different bits and it looks different. Love the colours too.
Thanks, it's my favorite combination, though the churn dash block is a variation I've rarely seen. Usually, that block is a simple snowball block like these in this small quilt I made of snowball blocks and 4-patches:

I really must try to fix the half log cabin/chevron one. I had such high hopes for that.

The snowball would make a great block swap. Plenty of room to sign it. Reminds me. I still have all the blocks from the Staff quilt we did several years back. I haven't put them together yet. LOL

I think the chevron would make a great wall hanging. That's why i asked how big it came out. :)

Oops indeed. I looked at it last night thinking I could unpick all the quilting and separate the top and wash it in to get the bleeding out and requilt it, but I saw how intricately I quilted it and decided it didn't look that bad after all. :lau

Terrie! You haven't put them together yet?? Oh, my! I did and hand quilted it years ago, but the recovery company washed it or dry-cleaned it, not sure which, after our house fire and some signatures bled a little bit.
Looking for pictures of our staff quilt....
And the first Tennessee Waltz quilt I made and sold, a twin size:
