I found something that my Brother 1500 does better than the Janome 7700...go over thick seams without a hitch! The Janome veers off course unless I slow way, way down and even then, it doesn't care for it. I found that out going over the ends of the flying geese blocks while sewing the line of them onto the quilt. I changed to the walking foot, which did help, but it even hangs up on that at times. The Brother, being a semi-industrial machine, just powers right over them with no hiccup! Score one for Brother! I also think it may be due to the way the piecing foot attaches on the Janome, which is super convenient, just snap on and off, so it has more wobble to it. The Brother's feet must be put on with a screwdriver every time but is very stable. Just an assessment for anyone considering the Brother 1500, which is still a powerhouse machine that I really love.
DH is still not feeling well, may have a sinus infection, so a massive headache. My machine table still sits on the deck with the first hole cut into it. Meanwhile, I'm sewing on the final side of the last border on the current quilt. I need something to call it because I think I may sell this one, not gift it. I have a better idea for my SIL's quilt, something along the lines of one giant, super sized quilt block with huge pieces plus borders, for her king size bed.
