Based on the Topic heading, you would think that "Auctions" means actual real-world auctions involving poultry say in Boise, Idaho, especially when it's lumped in with Chickenstocks, Shows, and Swaps of which the overwhelming majority of posts deal with physical real world locations as opposed to online/virtual shows, etc.
On the other hand there has been a recent phenomenon going on involving the sale of eggs/chickens/etc. using an "online" auction method involving BYC threads. I have some confusion as to why these are relegated to a "non"-sale type thread where they wouldn't receive as much attention as say the "for sale" threads.
the best part of the BYC Auctions is that not only is there bidding, but there is social behaviour involved as well (including cheering, encouragement, etc.) which adds an element that ebay or eggbid can't mimic. In fact, I find it far more enjoyable.
I won't go as far as to say I'm questioning the admins decision, but would like to suggest that maybe an entirely new heading be opened under the sale section that is specifically for online BYC auctions (maybe with a standard site disclaimer sticky, etc.). Not only would these types of auctions get the visibility and traffic of people actually looking to purchase eggs/younglings/birds, but wouldn't effect people looking to sell at fixed prices with the constant traffic/chattiness bumping their posts down.
