online Crazy Egg Chain Chat thread

Well I think it is totally fair to call people out who arent following the rules of the thread by following through with egg commitments. I also agree that it was someone who was called out and didnt want anyone to rain on their one sided parade. I still have one turkey baby it seems to be doin alright so far it is pooping.... I dont know about drinking and eating... I hear turkeys are stupid.... I stuck his beak in the water and in the food.... hopefully he isnt THAT stupid LMAO. I have one pheasant baby too, and an EE bantam pipped. I think all my call eggs are due in about a week.

I thought it was a good idea myself. I didnt post on it but needed to lol. I did see posts a couple other places from people looking for eggs to cover their responsibilities here right after that thread started

So it evidently got a couple peoples attention. I wish sometimes the Mods would let a few non volitile threads stay open that would at least let people know who and why you know.

I hope I'm not on the hot seat for swaps. I stopped fpr a while due to transportation issues. Now I have a bunch of broodies with eggs or chicks and the ehat is causing some not to lay. I really wanted to put a garden in this year so I'd have cold melons and things to cool them off, but just haven't had a chance. Last years I just didn't take cae of after my husband died, so been a while and hard to get back in the swing I guess.

I do owe meepitqueenie on a side swap, but we're good and I'm hoping to take care of that one next week. Start to laying girls! LOL

hot2pot, I saw you got SPPRs to hatch, but they died?? Where those from my eggs? If so I'm so sorry. I was hoping everyone would have better luck than me. I've gotten about 7 chicks from all my auctions and swaps to hatch. The eggs are just shaken to death when i open them. I do check later. Seems if they develop they stop early. So agravating. The PO treats them like they are completely stuffed with packing materials and nothing fragile. Makes me ill.

Oh I did have a good hatch on my quail, concidering. I started with 119 eggs, 9 broken, set the rest and got 36?? I think. Then I lost a few and I have 27. Several had spraddle legs. I tried to fix them, but figures the one I just tried to get to straighten out using wood chips and nothing else is fine now and all over the place. It did stay smaller, but it's holding on. I just hope I get enough from here to use as breeders. Quail sells good in my area, so I need to do this to help keep the others fed. Was afraid I'd have to get rid of all of my birds a while back.

I'm adding a new cockerel to my Davis flock soon too. I want to make sure I have the best fetility I can get with those FBCMs.

I have mine and my grand daughter's Modern Games in lockdown now. I sure hope something hatches. They didn't look great, but 2 look like maybes and I put a few extra just hoping. Even if it's just 2 a pair would be nice.

I'm picking up some used pens from another BYCer hopefully tomorrow. I'm going to be separating some roos from hens and see which ones produce the best hatching eggs. If I was going to do it correctly it would take almost 3 months, but i want more chicks to grow out for next year. Reminds me I have one hatching right now and need to go check on him. I saw him, cause I keep getting boys!

Here is an updated pic of the 3(use to be 4) Sumatras I hatched from gamebirdsonly. I used the chicken calculator of a dun roo over a blue hen and the dun chick is the female and the blue chicks are split to dun and are cockerals. She has great color! She is going to look awesome

Here are pics of the poults I hatched from Soggy Bottom Farm. One BR and one possible BRXPencilled Red Palm, its lighter than the normal BR. She sent all fertile eggs but this last run I messed my incubation somewhere along the line.

A BR poult I hatched from SoggyBottom, the only one I have left, i think it was an incubation issue, maybe they got a little too warm.

But I suuure am happy with this one, he is lookin alright right now!
OH and the other is a pheasant baby it was the only one left out of 4 that accidently started to incubate when it was left outside, I candled the 4 as soon as I brought them inside and threw em in the bator immediately so he/she is a happy accident lol.

by the way I looked up the symptoms of my babies and I think that it was omphalitis, the turkey poult wont be likely to make it, we can always hope, it is precious! they hatched under a hen who made doodoo in her nest... I had just cleaned it out for her to poop in it again...

oh well. I hope the rest of my eggs make it alright! Also, I candled my silkies and sizzles still have all the sizzles (including the first egg from your new layer) and 3 silkie eggs, the depletion of those was my hens fault she is setting for the first time and apparently lacks the skills (like a couple of her sisters) to remove herself from the nest before defecating..... stupid hen.... grrr

Are those silkie and sizzle from me? I have a hen that poops on her eggs too. She has sat on eggs several times and this last hatch was her fist to actually get chicks from. I have 3 broody's right now. One I keep taking the eggs. She's not laying them the blue hen is and I put a blue roo in that pen a few weeks ago so there should be some nice blue chicks out of them. I think the black pullet started to lay but I have yet to catch her on the nest. I'm getting anywhere from 6 to 10 eggs a day right now. I plan to put what I get in the bator tonight to hatch out for a swap on July 23rd. After that I will be selling the eggs I get. I want to shut down the bators for a while. The dander is getting the best of me from the chicks. I keep them inside till they have a good amount of feathers. They are in a spare room but cleaning the brooders is what gets me.

My Lavender orps are hatching!!! I have a pair (or a pullet that is masculine:lau) From Hink JC lines and I forgot the person I got these from so I need to check my messages LOL This one that hatched, will be included later in my mini Lav orp coop plans. I just finished my Stellar coop and I need more pens????? AHHHHHHH!
