Donnie......I am so sorry! I don't even know how you must have felt finding all your birds like that, that had to be so hard to go through. I believe there would have been one dead dog!

Sorry to here about your loss Donnie
If it makes you feel any better I have eggs ready for you

Hoping a better day for you

That's terrible, Donnie.

My issue is a drop in production. Of course I notice it most in my breeding pens.

Haven't gotten even one egg from my Khaki Campbell ducks for over a week.

Problems could be 1) the weather. We've had a string of storms and hail and heavy downpours. Runs are mucky. Sun is hidden. Temps are up one day and cold the next. 2) I switched to a cheaper, locally milled layer feed over a month ago. I had used HomeGrown layer, which gave me great production.

3) Broodies. Each pen has a broody that keeps hogging the favorite nesting boxes and stealing eggs from the casual layers.

4) Egg eaters. I hope this isn't a real problem, but this morning I caught on old hen eating an egg that a young one laid out in the run in a mud puddle. She was polishing off the shell, when I saw her.

I haven't found eaten/broken eggs in that coop's next boxes yet.

Becca, I so know that feeling!! I am dealing with the exact same thing...sure we aren't neighbors....rains so much in the afternoon that it actually floods! So hot the next day that it dries (oh so very humid tho) so that it can rain again..... temps here with humidity is about 110)

Donnie, I am truly this has happened to you...and if there are any breeds that I have that you'd like...please don't hesitate to pm me!!!!

I've been having the same problem as BeccaOh - but I'm also switching back to Home Grown Layer this week.

Thanks guys for all your concern ... i will be looking to replace all of my birds i have lost that is for sure ...

the sad part of all of this was it was my own dog , she slipped her collar , she hates chickens for some reason , she didnt eat them she just kills them and plucks the feathers , idk y , so im building her a pen with hog panels and electric fence i have raised her and he has been part of the family since she was 6 wks old when i got her , i also helped deliver her , she is 6 yrs old now , and it is hard for me to even think of shooting her , as the others i have had to for killing birds but i am also talking with my cousin about sending her to live there she has no chickens and a big yard with a swimming pool and my dog BB just loves her kids

I could just let you keep your OEGB eggs, then you can hatch them and use them to help build your stock. I am sure someone else will offer some up at some point, if I can catch them

no ebonyann that would not be fair to you i offered them and you took them , so you will get them , i know plenty of you guys on here that have some nice oegb and other breeds i lost that i wanted that i can start working on getting so they can grow out thru winter and be ready to lay in the spring lol i am trying stay positive about it , things happen for a reason , and he works in mysterious ways and we are not supposed to question it so im just going with it
