DH finished the roof and the doors on the latest bunny hutch, this one is for the bucks. It is already full. Next I plan to make a support to suspend four cages I already have off the ground. It will hang from the trusses of the lean to near the garage. That should hold more of the boys.
My chicks came today in the mail, they called me at 6:30 this morning. Unfortunately, I went to bed around one so I was short on sleep. All of the chicks made the trip, even the bantams. Hope they do well, I gave them save a chick in their water right away. DH said it was an awful lot of money to spend on chicks. He thinks they should be $2 each. Wake up , dear.
Want to go to the sale at Ripley, MS next time they have it, I think it will be not this weekend, but the following one. Anyone been there?

Got the rack to suspend those cages built, just need to move some brooders and hang it up. Going to a rabbit show tomorrow!

Getting a pair of Chocolate Dutch , and who knows what else! There are over 300 bunnies entered! I joined the rabbit breeders association and applied to register my rabbitry name. Going rabbit crazy....

So it was less than 300 rabbits, but still interesting. Got two pairs of Dutch , chocolate and torti, with pedigrees. Plus I won a raffle for a young silkie. I talked to different breeders, and learned a lot of things. Here is one of my young Mini Satin bucks

Hey Aspen, Well I have two cages with three in each of them, four I just bought, 5 in other cages, four young bucks, and about 6 young does. But I rarely count things like livestock, numbers keep changing anyways. I am trying to keep only three breeds, Lionheads, Dutch, and Mini Satins. But Netherland Dwarves are awfully cute.... I was cutting toenails on the young does today, I enjoy spending time with them and cuddling.

Aww, how sweet. In the past we've had California, Holland Lops, Dwarfs. The lops were my favorites. I simply adore Lionheads, and Angoras.

I had one bunny that was too fuzzy, must have had some angora in him. Every two days he got matts in his fur. I don't want to spend too much time combing fur, I already have two yorkies to comb every day.
Poor Charlie(My male Papillon), he got bitten by some varmint the other day, has a bald patch the size of a grapefruit , bite marks and bruising and a swollen neck. And people wonder why I shoot these wild animals on sight. Charlie was minding his own business in his yard, must have been attacked. We do not let him run loose unless we are with him. Too many wild animals. I am treating him, and it is looking better. But he moves slowly, which is not typical for him. I am very careful not to leave the yorkie pups out after dark. Did I tell you I got another female yorkie pup? I named her Twinkle, or Twinkie for short. Rocky is happy to have a new buddy to play with. She is very different than Dixie, who was quiet and wanted to be held. This one is a yapper, and was screaming when I tried to cut her toenails. Really? Get over it puppy. She is about a month younger than Rocky, but she gives him hell. They are very energetic. Terrible to housebreak, you can take them out and all they want to do is run up and down the steps. Then they come in and poop on the floor. Ugh! I will have to get more pics.
Today I got the frame I had made for a three bin carrying cage, and made it into a quail tractor. It had wire inside all around until the goats stomped it. I painted it, added some more supports and put the wire bottom on. I cut plywood for the ends, and painted that. Now the ends are on, and I need to build the doors, and put the roof on. Going to put it in the garden so they can eat some bugs. They grew so fast, they have outgrown their cage. I will be glad to get it finished and so will they.

Oh dear! I pray he gets better. And no I didn't know you got a new puppy! Yeah. Where'd you get her from? We have two house Shih-Tzus (sp?), and an Australian Shepard who is outside...most of the time. ; ) This morning I was out feeding everyone and went to check on my lone Button Quail (Buddy Jr) ...what are those two green things in "his" pen...?? So um, I think I have a Betsy instead of a Buddy. She laid two adorable lil eggs in the corner of her pen. That explains a few things....

Yeah, I got the yorkie pup in Savannah...was going to call her Savvy but I like Twinkle better for her personality. I took them in the fenced garden this evening while I was pulling weeds. Next thing I know, Rocky is hot on the trail of one of the Buff Orp hens that was out... they were all running as fast as they could! I yelled at Rocky, and the chickens ran into their coop. He is lucky the rooster didn't get hold of him. I think he got under the fence , since there are no holes.
So the quail tractor is done! DH put the legs on and the hooks to hold the doors shut, plus the roof. I made the second door and put the hinges on both doors. once the paint dried, I carted it out to the garden and put food and water, plus quail in. Hoping they can eat some of the bugs from the weeds , since the legs are quite short but high enough to let poo fall through. They grew so fast, I am really glad to get them out of the garage.

Tonight I went to take the Shepherd pup out for her bedtime walk and there was a raccoon trying to get into the bantam hutch!!! Of course, by the time I got the dog put awayand got back down there with a gun, it was gone. Naturally, it will be back. Time to take counter measures.
