Only about 48 hours to go til we can expect a pip! So excited here!!!

Well, I posted before about the eggs I put in the bator on June 7th. The time is nearly here for them to start hatching and we are so excited! I got my eggs from another BYC'er and I am very thankful that she sent them so I could experience my first hatch with my kids in my new bator. She sent 9 eggs and after letting them set for a day to settle, I placed them into my already running incubator, and the countdown began. I lovingly turned them every day and added water as needed, and low and behold we have rocking eggs! My kids have been so excited I've been hard pressed to tear them away from the side of the incubator the last few days, lol. They give me an instant update the moment they see movement. I candled at day 7 and saw veins in two, and some of the others were too thick to see through, and the rest looked clear, but not positive that they weren't developing, I kept them all in the bator. Then, I candled again at day 14. I could see masses in two of the eggs, and some were totally clear. Still, I didn't toss them. I didn't have the heart. Then yesterday morning I noticed one of the eggs seemed to have yolk on the outside of it. A weeping egg. Sigh* I reached in and removed it, and then I noticed another weeping egg. I removed them, candled them and they were totally clear. My younger daughter took them and tossed them and of course, she broke them open as she did, and they had never had any embryos inside them. I don't think they were ever fertile, but I know that's a chance you take when you are collecting eggs in the first place, so I wasn't upset. I still have 7 eggs to work with. If I get one chick, I will be a happy camper. And so here we are, 36 hours or so away from their hatch date (I set them in the bator around 6:30 pm the night of the 7th) and up until this morning I had at least 3 that I saw moving. Now I only see one that is for sure still rocking like crazy. I hope it hatches tomorrow cause I'm off work.

I really want to see the hatching. My kids are convinced it will hatch tonight with how much it's moving around. I really hope more than one hatch so that they have a buddy. Our TSC stopped carrying chicks in April so I don't have easy access to newly hatched chicks if I get a single hatchling. But wish us luck everyone. We are on a countdown now, with our faces plastered to the bator window...

sending good hatch vibes your way. When you candled on day 14 and saw the black masses...did you see alot of movement?? I saw ton's of movement on day 10 with my banty Mille Fleur egg's..but now on day 16...all i see are big black massess still with visable vains near the "now larger" air cell's. I wish you tons of luck, us Indiana hatcher's gotta stick together!

I didn't see any movement in any of the eggs, even when I candled them, but I kept the faith, lol. The one little egg is just rocking like mad. I am wondering if he will hatch early? I'm still awake cause I'm constantly checking the eggs, lol. It would be nice to go to bed now and wake up in a few hours to see a pip. I just really hope I have the baby right side up. I stopped turning two days ago. And yes, we Indiana hatchers DO have to stick together! Good luck with your hatch too! Off to check on the egg one last time, then I'm off to bed. I'm so tired, this humidity is not helping my asthma at all. I feel like I'm in a sauna and it's so hard to breath. There is a reason why I didn't move South of the Mason Dixon line, and this humidity is it! Dunno how my chickens are coping so well. I'd go nuts if I had all those feathers! *Is tiptoeing into the dining room now to check on eggs one last time...*
