Only one chicken

D chickens get lonely? I know they are flock animals and so I think so but my single Jersey Giant seems great. Going into winter I am reluctant to get any more chickens and may end my run with hens and try ducks!

Is it a hen or rooster? Often a single rooster will make a great pet. When there are no hens around, he wouldn't really miss them. As long as you pay a moderate amount of attention to the single chicken, they will usually be fine.

However, if you were to get one more chicken of the same sex, your single chicken really would feel much more secure and content.
