Oozing nastiness coming from chickens rear side

I see them at walmart and grocery stores will all the other "lady" products...It seems like it would be a good idea for just this type of situation.

 

Probably worth looking into. From what little I read about it, I think it might be a ph level test strip, which you could get much cheaper elsewhere. But like I said, just did a quick look, so maybe there's more to it.

Just ordered a couple of them and should have them tomorrow. Will be checking out the contents with my Pharmacist before I leave so should have an answer to that then. It has to be a PH thing but what and how is the question.

Some cheap horse people like me use distilled water, ph and water hardness strips to predict when a mare is going to foal, the rich ones buy a foal prediction "kit", lol. I really think this is probably the same, just need to know what the healthy ph is on a chicken.

Casportpony...I learn something from you daily! If it is I'll pass it along. It's what I'm thinking as well. Now the question...will this work on a chicken or as you said, is the PH so different that it won't work. More research, lol.

Hello everyone. Sorry for not introducing myself first but I've got a big issue at hand here and am in despair. I recently got some chickens from my uncle although I'm not new to chicken raising. So I brought these chickens and of course have kept them separated from all of the others now for about 3 weeks and about a week ago I started noticing one of these new hens has what at first looks like diahreah caked all over her under backside. But it isn't I don't think. So I got her up real close too close really but anyways her skin is like verrrry red and raw so much that the feathers there actually look like they are dying or something she almost doesn't have any and the stuff coming out is like foamy white/yellowish stuff oozing out of her butt. This stuff stinks very badly it's odor is as if she's literary rotting. So I brought her in yesterday and gave her a quick soak in hot water and then pinned her up by herself, just so I could keep an eye on her. And so I noticed that this stuff is like just constantly running out not in great quantities but never the less still just oozing out. So I brought her back in today and gave her another bath but longer this time but this time I done the dirty deed put on some latex gloves and up the hole I went searching for possibly broken egg/s but didn't find anything. None of this has seemed to do any good and I'm not really sure about any of this. She wasn't like this when i brought her home. I thought that I was a pretty experienced chicken farmer/ lover as my chickens are pets only but I need some help so if anyone out there has any insight to this I would appreciate it very much. I hope it's not some kind of disease

Wow this morning I went to let my chickens out of their coop and noticed my favorite check in my super blue had yellow liquid all stuck to her bottom backside skin feathers I brought her in and tried to clean her up the best I can I’m afraid to bathe her because the last time I bathe her I feel like she got sick even though I dried her with the blow dryer....So nonetheless now I’m really nervous I don’t know what this is it almost looks like egg yolk actually and there was a little chunk of what could’ve been her egg I’m not sure if it was it was it’s very confusing very nervous don’t know what to do
