But oh does that sound yummy!

Heart-attack on a plate?
We'll bring the chocolate, you bring the insulin?
Dentists Delight?

Sounds like my kind of dessert though!

I just realized that the worst thing about making a dessert to take tomorrow is that tonight when it starts calling my name I will have to ignore it. God must be a dessert fan and nothing particularily care for vegetables. How else could you explain that you have never been waken from a sound sleep by a carrot calling you?

I'd also be will to bet that the Thistle has heard lemon cheesecake singing.

Evening folks.
Boy it's been a hot one here today-on my way to the grocery store my car thermometer read 93-it felt like it!
Guess I will be solo tomorrow for Easter, DH has to work(he's working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week right now). Oh well, guess at least I get out of the normal cooking for a holiday duties.
Opa whatever desert you created there, boy does it sound good(and dangerous).
YakLady thank you for understanding the snake policy here at my house(I understand your possum policy

Opa, that sounds YUMMY! You didn't answer my question, so now I'm nervous. How's Minnie settling in with her new flock?

I had 7 out of my 8 'test batch' ducklings hatch out today. The one that I told you about that looked like it had something dark and weird inside it didn't hatch. My gut told me that something was just not right with that one. I told hubby to throw it away. Curiosity prevailed, and he opened it to see what the deal was. He said that the duckling looked like it was pretty well formed (which made sense, since I saw it rocking yesterday morning, then nothing). He said the liquid inside it looked green, and it looked like it had drowned. Not sure what that was all about. But the 7 who were able to hatch are doing great, and they are absolutely adorable. They're such funny little things! Now that my 'test batch' did well, I will feel good about the possibility of the eggs we bought hatching out.

Oopsy, the 7 that hatched out were all from my Pekin eggs, but they were all mostly black. That tells me that my Cayuga drake did his drake thing in spite of Tonto the IR trying to step in. There's not one IR in that 7. So hopefully, your eggs that I sent to you will be Cayugas as well!In a couple of weeks, I'll have a batch of my Cayuga girls' eggs hatching out. Here's hoping that they pop out pure Cayuga!

Opa, those Welsummer eggs are due to hatch on the 9th! I'm excited! I haven't been able to watch their development, because I can't see inside those dark eggs. This will be a total surprise.

Cayce, sorry about the one dark egg, but congratulations on the rest!
We need a duck smiley!

I was out tending ducklings and chickens this afternoon and made a wonderful discovery! The black Delaware Blue Hen jumped up on some ancient shelves that came with the coop that came with the house.... that somebody probably not named Jack built way back when. The shelves were pretty weathered when we bought the place, so I just use them to store stuff until they fall apart. Got an old galvanized waterer in the deal. And that's where my colorful concrete roo lives.

Anyway, the hen hopped up there and after a second, a really mad Carolina Wren can blazing out. She was furious. Sat in a nearby tree just raising hell!

I went for a look, and then scrambled for a camera. Here's the set of shelves, with the usual pollen coated stuff on it, including the old metal waterer.

Upon further investigation....

FIVE Carolina Wren eggs!

. They are very small, no bigger that a fingernail. I love the wrens, thare very smart and clever little birds, but very opportunistic when it comes to nesting.
I will certainly be watching for the little ones to hatch.
