Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

Hi MamaG, nice to see you! Hope your Mom is doing okay.

Clear, sunny and in the 90s here again. So many bugs and snakes around that I really don't want to go out!

Absolutely beautiful day here today. I just finished at one job, came home to grab a cup of coffee. Thought I'd be done early today but an old couple called and our having plumbing issues at their house so I must head over and see if I can resolve their problem. Lot of seniors pass my name around at someone to call no matter what the problem. I try to take care of them and see that they don't get ripped off, and yes Thistle, I am aware that it won't be too long before I'm as old or older than the old people I'm trying to help.

What a gorgious day it was yesterday....sunny and 68F....

After work, I got 32 Hydrid Poplars in the ground, 6 Russian Sage bushes, 2 of something perrinial( forgot the name), 1 porch pot planted, and a Rubarb!

DH started the garden with tomatoes (may still be a bit early for them), potatoes, carrots and onions

I am hoping to have sunday off so I can go to the nursury for more bedding plans for my barrels, and I still have 50 Yucca and 20 Buffalo Berry bushes to get in the ground!..... Doesn't sound much like a day off, but I love spring

Just got in from work and the mood in the house is quiet and somber. Granny's bichon is 11 years and has a severe infection for a rotten tooth. I pulled the tooth, cleaned the abcess in her mouth and put her on penicillin. I think the infection had spread to far before I was made aware of it. The tooth was pulled on Monday and the dog is responding like I had hoped. Each day she becomes and little less. She doesn't appear to be in any pain, she just isn't eating and each day seems a little less. I think she is simply going to fade away in her sleep. Granny is resigned to the fact that we are doing all that can be done and that Connie probably isn't going to pull through this. If and when the poor thing passes I know it's going to be hard on Granny.

I've gotten hooked on logging on to the various sites showing nesting peregrine falcons. They certainly are majestic birds. There are about 7 different nests that I looking at and the clutches vary from two to five eggs. Some of the eggs have hatched and one nest has five eyas all demanding from the the falcon and the tiercel when they bring food to the nest.

I wasn't expecting any chickens to hatch until tonight and tomorrow yet one hatched last night and three more today and five other eggs had pipped when I checked them a couple of hours ago.

Thanks Thistle, Granny will be very touched by everyone's concern. I've been giving the dog injections of antibiotics and she is actually a little better. Chicks are continuing to hatch and I will give them until late this afternoon before opening the hatcher. It's hard to tell but it looks like at least half of the eggs have hatched.

Laura, glad spring has finally made it up your way. Fall starts tomorrow, right?

Hi Luna!

Hang in there!

Morning everyone! Hope you are all doing well.
Still trying to get over this stupid illness-finally hauled myself to the doctor Friday so hopefully the meds will take care of it.
The weather down here is a balmy 1000 degrees(just kidding, it is already really hot and humid).
The garden is really growing-already have blooms on tomatoes and cucumbers. Should be able to cut mustard greens and lettuce in about 10 days-it had to come back after the chickens demolished it.

Besides the heat and humidity, we have been VERY snakey down here-posted about it on my FB page. Sally-waiting on your pics!
Ducklings went for their first swim over the weekend and that kept me entertained all day yesterday.

Messy, but precious, they are.
Opa-I sure hope Granny's dog responds positively to the treatment. My old doxie had an abscess and was given 2 antibiotics-1 of which was a penicillian so hopefully Connie will be around to keep Granny company for a while longer.
Everyone take care and have a wonderful day.

I
