Open front coop done, chicken yard in progress

Painted the ramp and covered with sand, then painted again. The chickens seem to like it better than hardware cloth on it.

Not the coop but recycled the frame of an old swing into a shady spot where the chickens already like to hang out.

Got the screens on. It dropped about 3 degrees in five minutes.

Adding a temporary coop to the yard for 4 chicks. Added 1 black and 3 blue australorps to the flock. Putting these together

In this area.
Total space is 32 sq feet for 4 chicks a month old or less. Have added a doorway to two sides of the playpen, one that has a door in it. Top of the dog pen will have a hinged lid so I can reach in and get the feed and water containers.

Temporary coop for the littles is about done. The wood on top is to hang their water from. Putting in a couple pieces of brick for steps going in and out of the covered area. Got some greens and put in hanging suet feeders to encourage interaction.

Looks great. I have a question. Do you have a lesser predator problem out in AZ than i do here in the Northeast?
If my coops only had chicken wire my girls would be gone in a week. Racoons would rip thru that in no time.
