Operation Dry Hatch

You said the wide end of the egg. If this egg is sitting with pointed end down, it looks like the peep was almost upside down and I had that happen in my last hatch. It pipped but could not do anymore. I'm not sure but I think they drown in the shell if that happens. Just a freak thing. I've only had the one, ever. Oh, that doesn't look shrink wrapped.
I was kind of wondering if it was in the correct position. When I opened the egg some fluid came out and I was wondering if had drowned.

azhenhouse: Some of mine looked like that but heads/beak a smudge higher, membrane more white/dry and kinda sucked onto chick when I dabbed water on the membrane then it got clearer and I could see threw it. That looks more wet to me. I don't know. My others never got threw membrane and the membrane too was white/dry on those also.

wholewheatchicken: wish you were closer I was looking for a few silkies.

Yes, and I like cochins. I was going to ask you where Poland, Ohio was as there is a breeder in Indianapolis who has SQ bantam cochins. Yesterday she had an ad up on CL for blue, black and mottled. She pretty much always has reds. The chicks must have gone like wildfire because last night I checked again wanting to make sure on the colors she had and the ad was down. I will have to keep my eye on her as she has some really nice birds.

I am by youngstown, Ohio towards the PA line. I am looking for both types silkie and bantam cochins around here and can't find them. Isn't it funny when your not looking for something it's there then when you are you can't find it. LOL

If you all read back to post #187 I talked about posting on Craigslist to see if anybody wanted to buy some chicks from me. Well, I had such a response that I had to take it off Craigslist. Looks like I will be hatching again, soon. Of course, this time I will have help.

azhenhouse: I'm still crossing my fingers for us to have better hatches this time and hopefully lots of babies!!

Wow! You really hit on a great idea then. I would love to hatch out a zillion chicks and sell them all like that. Honey, make more bators!

Bantams are not big in my area either. I am hoping when I have chicks that I will be able to get into a market that is not saturated, but also that there is no local market for them.
Well, I could switch you locations for a bit as you might live close to Dick Horstman and he has several things I would love to have! I want some of his silver laced bantam Polish, but he doesn't know if he will have any this year....then I would move on to the Brahmas and then some of his cochins. You know, maybe you should look at his birds

http://horstmanspoultry.com/home.html He might have something you are interested in. I've heard from several people they have seen his birds in person and they are very lovely!

wholewheatchicken: Ok I'll check out his page. Thanks.. I do like the laced polish too. I have thought about getting some later. I just want to get my girls laying my own eggs to hatch so I am praying I have a roo out of the 4 I hatched last week. They are laying now just not fertilized. LOL I want specific colors of the cochins too so I think that makes it harder finding them.
