Opinion on quality....

Oh, and I might say, he's HUGE. I have Barred Rocks, Comets, many others of a similar size.. and he DWARFS them. No idea on weight...

Maybe when he matures more he will look different but to me his legs are really huge compared to his body and his comb is way too small for a leghorn.

Like Jody said, possibly a White Giant. He got more of a brick body. Wait until maturity and find out for sure of his sheer weight and stance on that boy!

Definitely not Wt. Leghorn as they have wt. earlobes and are much smaller in body.

I'd say Wt. Rock or Wt. Rock x Cornish cross maybe or Wt. Jersey Giant, I think WJG has more of a yellowish/ willow- green shank (feet) though. Probably Cornish X. due to size, esp. if he's filled out more then he's a big boy by now. I've had some of those CornishxRock broilers grow out to be huge probably 15 to 20 lb. birds absolutely giangantic.

Admittedly I am used to leghorns of UK standard but he does not look like a leghorn to me. See how he is horizontal along the back? Leghorns need to be much more upright in stance. Also look at his comb.
Compare him with these birds.

Don't think he's a cornish hybrid meatbird.... how about a white plymouth rock, hatchery quality?

Appears to be a pretty typical hatchery type White Rock. If you are thinking of seriously breeding White Rocks there's be no point in starting with this bird, he's not a good representative of the breed.
Not a Leghorn, type is wrong & earlobes would be white not red.
Leg colour is wrong for a White Giant. They have willow green legs not yellow legs.
If he was a Rock x Cornish his body would be much larger at 9 months.

Thank you for your help! I didn't really want to breed him seriously, I was just wondering if he was good enough to. I have so many breeding projects on the go, my husband would go crazy if I introduced another!!

Well since you asked. If he doesn't have the features of any purebred bird. Can't be Rock, isn't leghorn, can't be WJG then the answer is pretty well - No. Quality is in most cases determined by how well an animal fits it's breed standard. Not fitting Any breed standard would suggest that the bird is not of sufficient quality to breed.

Visit some shows - buy a nice White Rock Roo from one of the white rock showers and you'll be off to the races. They might not sell the show winning bird but they'll have runners up, and culls that will still be miles ahead of "guess the breed" quality birds.

Good luck. He is handsome though.
